On the shelf now

  • Sealed nine ball bearing — rolls smooth, makes no clicking sound
  • 1.5 inch anodized aluminum body, five colorways including glow in the dark
  • Comes in a slim presentation box, so it works as a gift straight off the shelf
  • No batteries, no small parts, nothing to come loose

Most spinners turn on an axis. This one does not. A single ball rides a nine ball bearing around the inside of the body, so the motion you feel is rolling rather than spinning, and it keeps going as long as your thumb keeps nudging. There is no top speed to chase and nothing to flick, which is why it survives meetings that a tri spinner would not.

The shell is 1.5 inches on every side and lands at the weight people describe as reassuring. Anodizing puts the color into the surface of the aluminum rather than onto it, so the multicolored version keeps its sheen after a term in a bag and the black one stays properly black. Glow in the dark charges off a desk lamp in a couple of minutes.

From our table: Hold it in a closed fist and roll with the thumb. That is the grip people land on by day two.

  • Great spinner for the price

Santa brought this as a stocking stuffer and our entire family fidgeted with it all morning! It was a huge hit! Not noisy at all and was a great value
