About bopster
Whose table this is
We are a small toy company with a long table and a short list of things we are willing to put our name on.
Two objects, one idea
bopster started with a jigsaw and picked up a spinner along the way. The two look nothing alike and they come off the same thought: an hour is better when your hands have a job.
Everything we make has to pass that test before it gets a box. If an object does not change the feel of the next hour, it does not matter how clever it is.
How a thing gets made here
The jigsaws begin as drawings. Our illustrators work at full size, which is why the London map has a cab with its light on and the world map has fifty people you will argue about.
The metal pieces begin as weight. We machine a sample, pass it around the room for a week, and keep the one people forget they are holding. Anodizing comes last because color is a finish, not a decision.
What we do not do
We do not make plastic spinners. We tried; they rattled.
We do not print on virgin board. The recycled stock takes ink slightly differently and we spent a year learning to draw for it rather than switching back.
Where we sit
Our US office is at 41 Pine Street in Burlington, Vermont, which has exactly the kind of winter a 1000 piece puzzle was invented for.
